Summary
Instant New York Times bestseller!

'I absolutely loved this book and didn't want it to end.' --Liane Moriarty, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Big Little Lies

“This is an ‘accidentally stayed up until 4 a.m. because it's impossible to put down’ kind of novel.” --USA Today

Seven perfect days. Then he disappeared. A love story with a secret at its heart.

When Sarah meets Eddie, they connect instantly and fall in love. To Sarah, it seems as though her life has finally begun. And it's mutual: It's as though Eddie has been waiting for her, too. Sarah has never been so certain of anything. So when Eddie leaves for a long-booked vacation and promises to call from the airport, she has no cause to doubt him. But he doesn't call.

Sarah's friends tell her to forget about him, but she can't. She knows something's happened--there must be an explanation.

Minutes, days, weeks go by as Sarah becomes increasingly worried. But then she discovers she's right. There is a reason for Eddie's disappearance, and it's the one thing they didn't share with each other: the truth.

This book was a really nice surprise. I hadn't heard about it but discovered it in a list online that gave it good reviews. The plot is clever, with two complete twists and turns that are well handled by the author, and believable. However, I had two problems with the book: 1. The last hour or so (don't know how many pages that would be) is very, very "tug at your heartstrings" and is overly emotional and even cloying. This was a shame since up to that point it had been really great. 2. The narrator is really first-class but the narrative would have made more sense with a male and a female voice, or at least a male reading the last part of the book which is all in the male character's voice. This would be the producer's decision so it has nothing to do with the narrator herself. On the other hand, although up to that point she had changed her voice a little to indicate a male character, she does not alter her voice at all for the male's long part toward the end of the novel and I found this to be confusing. Still, a good story for the most part.
