Alright, alright, alright. Some stories are interesting, but after awhile the ego and bs gets to be too much.

An amazing story to an incredible life which is relevant to us all on a personal level.

I dare not write “unbelievably” good!! But it was fabulous! I listened to it when ever I could and was annoyed to have to stop listening! I had no idea of how interesting Mathew is and remains to be. I was lucky to have listened to this book rather than reading it, because Mathew’s voice oozed with charisma and completed the experience. This was an easy 5 star listen.

Only through the first hour but I could listen to this all day.. very entertaining! Highly recommend!

What a great read by Matthew. He is so much more than what we have seen as an actor. I thought his words and inspirations were very thought provoking, interesting and worth hearing/following. I enjoyed that he didn't relive all of his dating experiences as some authors tend to do. He is blessed to have found the one woman that allows him to be himself to experience his life to the fullest. His life and all of the experiences are very interesting. I highly recommend.

This audiobook had me spellbound from minute one. It’s both an autobiography and a roadmap for life, punctuated by hilarious, thoughtful or adventurous anecdotes. I was surprised by Matthew’s depth, honesty (even in his dishonesty….you’ll have to listen to understand that thought!) and his humility. His hunger to taste everything life has to offer, to risk it all, how rich this parallel life was juxtaposed to his Hollywood movie star status. His notion of what marriage could do to him struck a chord with me. How that notion changed during his relationship with Camilla broke a barrier for me - I was reminded to live every day with intention. His spirituality, and how he looks at the world and other cultures could heal the darkest of hearts. There are so many gems in this book which are made all the more palatable by his infectious narration. I will give it a few days and listen to it all over again. #highlyrecommend

Absolutely loved listening to this audiobook. I found myself driving down the road with a big smile on my face or just laughing out loud. Matthew McConaughey not only wrote a very entertaining book, but his narration is thoroughly enjoyable!

Read out of curiosity. Interesting stories, he’s had some life. 5 stars if you love him because that will make a difference. For me, it was OK. If you don’t like him, don’t bother. He’s definitely a colorful character. Definitely not life changing or inspirational in any way. Just crazy stories, really.

Some amazing stories and a solid easy listen. He can be pretty over enthusiastic at times which can get a little annoying. But can't fault him for it, its part of his charm and I wouldn't be listening to it in the first place if it was some old literary grump narrating it!

Interesting, enlightening, and calming all at once!

I tore through this faster than any book I've read in a long time...and I wasn't even that big of a McConaughey fan. I am now though. This book is fantastic, inspirational, and addicting. 5/5 stars for Matthew.

This is a great book to read or listen to. I love hearing his ways of storytelling with his accents and all. He is such a positive, free spirit man. He is truly a smart person who has lived an interesting incredible journey so far. A must read and must buy!!

It started out well, but deteriorated into an egotistical monologue. Although only 6+ hours I had a hard timing finishing as it became repetitive and boring.

McConaughey narrates the living memoir in his own person which I have a massive new found respect for. From his desire to escape his fame, to chasing it and becoming characters, and how his family values and 10 things he want's to accomplish keep him living for the day. His family values, lessons in life and continuance of this life journey are loudly refreshing.

Easily the best book I've read this year

It’s worth your time. The rhythm of his writing demands that he reads this, and McConaughey’s performance does not disappoint. I’ll add my voice to the chorus of folks saying they will or have already given it a second listen.

What an outstanding book and story by an amazing actor. lessons of life told within the soothing voice of Wooderson himself. This is one of the most important journey and self motivational books you'll ever listen to. Give this a read it's pretty "Alright, Alright, Alright!"

The book was great, I'd listen again.

I love listening to him. Green lights is just another way of saying I am the luckiest guy on earth. His life really isn’t that interesting. I would have rather heard about his time cross country camping in trailer parks or his love life. It’s all very surface level

Interesting to hear about his past and how he actually took his dreams seriously to figure out what they meant. He’s definitely lived a full life and seen a lot of this world that many of us will never see. Very interesting to have a window into that wandering mindset. Great life lessons learned are passed on to readers. Know your identity and who you want to be and live it out well. He tells us to know our values and doesn’t shy away from occasionally mentioning his trust in God.

I was living like a sloth when i read this book. Loved listening to Matthew McConaugheys life story. He is probably the best narrator on this planet.

Such an interesting listen. I go through this listen so quickly. In the car or during a quiet moment I would listen and never Bored of it. He definitely had an interesting life and perspective from the beginning. His voice really sets you at ease listening and with the narration you feel as though you are there as part of the story. Definitely worth a listen to.

i usually love reading the book myself so this was the first audio book i’ve ever finished all the way through, and can i just say it was AMAZING. I think i fell more in love with matthew mcconaughey, i love his voice so much. the book was incredible, and one of my favorite quotes was “sometimes we don’t need advice, sometimes we just need to know we’re not the only ones.”

Great storyteller voice. Really enjoyed listening and loved his reference to connecting to his intuition in the relatable “green lights”. Recommended.

Such a great voice. I very much enjoyed this listen because it was real. It was funny despite its depth. The parenting insight he noted was spot on with my own experiences. I’ll listen to it again just to laugh at the stories again.

It started off well enough. Lots of great wisdom and tid bits. Then it turned mid way through.

I wonder what would have happened if he could have crossed paths with Matthew Perry.

The author really didn’t show us him. The narration was a reverie of bullet points on a timeline. I couldn’t make any connections to any of the people in this book. The details lacked personal connection. I was disappointed. M.M. Showed zero vulnerability. He had all of the answers. He had zero problems. He was a hero without true human conflict.

It's a shame not all audiobooks get to have the same enthusiastic and professional interpretation. This one is a must listen, specially to people that want to start their journey into audiobooks.

Interesting story, pretty amazing experiences, and VERY clever to record his thoughts AND look back to reflect on them. A bit of an ego and a little preachy at the end, but considering his start in life, what a trip. We listen in the car and lost the end of many thoughts when he stopped talking so loud. couldn't modulate the controls fast enough. Overall worth a listen, just to realize that we should be present and aware.

This was extremely entertaining and filled with great life lessons we can all learn from.

Great- straight from the author

Oh how I wish the authors of the books were always the narrators!! Not only is this book ABSOLUTELY AMAZING and gave me so much perspective about life and how to live it, but the story told by McConaughey is unlike any other I’ve ever heard! I laughed, I cried, I anticipated what he was about to say, completely immersed in the story.

Amazing book and exceptional narration. I picked many life lessons, especially the reinvention part, what I experienced myself every couple of years and looked back proud.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Being from Oklahoma is easy to connect with his words. I found many common phrasing oh, and receive many laughs. His voice is very relaxing and the speech pattern is very easy for me to relate to. I have a hunch, that alright alright alright came from the feeling of pulling up to a pasture party Bonfire keg combo with a lot of pretty girls.

His voice is adding an extra flavour to this book. Of course his experience is one of a kind but if you like the actor, you're going to enjoy the journey presented in this book.

I always loved Matthew's movies from the first to his last ones. the listen was a very good and I know I'll try to listen to it again someday soon because it was that good! who ever reads this will want to also! This Book deserves 10 Stars

The best memoir ever…unique very different from any other autobiography. You can learn a lot by listening to his “notes”. Also you cannot find a better beautiful voice!

Interesting storytelling through his words. It was exactly what I expected.

Although I thought that this book would be something more of a guide (I'm still a little bit disappointed that it wasn't) the experience of hearing (and almost being in) those stories was truly amazing, especially because of the brillant narrator job of Matthew McConaughey himself.

This is in my top 3 favorite books I’ve read this year - I want to get the paperback too so I can see the scrapbook type affect, but with that said I looved the audio version. This book made me laugh

I enjoyed every second of this book.

The movies Free state of Jones, The Gentleman just forced enjoy to the most details of Matthews art of actor skills and effort. And then Jordan Peterson, Joe Rogan brought attention to the Greenlights book as well as nice worth listening conversation. So the book was in somewhat good expectation territory already, no surprise it was just a pleasure to my ears and soul while going through the day routine at work. 5 stars to you Matthew greenlight indeed

Pretty good, about what I expected. Nothing really too enlightening, but he's so charming it makes up for it.

What a great audio book! Narrated by the author, he had me laughing so much, I left my car running at the parking garage while listening with ear buds while walking to work. He had me crying about his joy of being a father. I love the thought he put into writing this book. Each of us may not make millions, but can understand his philosophy, maybe you already live by it or can get some words of wisdom from it. His book has pictures taken throughout his life and the audio has his verbal expressions, its yours to pick. It was for sure a greenlight to me!!

I loved listening to Mathew M. tell his story but I had to give him a 4/5 because he sometimes goes off into existential tangents. I absolutely loved his storytelling and I appreciate his positive advice about « green lights ». I would recommend this book to anyone beginning their life’s journey.

If you like Matthew and his works, this book is a great insight into the man we know today. I loved his philosophies and outlook on life. It was very enjoyable and the fact that he narrated it himself made it that much better. It was the greatest book of all time, but for what it is, I absolutely loved it.

Wow, what a great listen! Took me by surprise, actually. Matthew has led such a remarkably interesting life, and to hear him tell it is even better than reading it; though I must confess, I would be reading it in his voice, regardless. His stories and recollections are captivating, and I often found myself waiting in the car until one was finished. The pace of the book moves seamlessly, once you get used to the wonky format, ie no real chapters, etc. Overall, I highly recommend this.

The part I most related to came at “I had been going to bed with an itchy butt and waking up with a stinky finger long enough.” Ha! Not because I had, but because I am facing daily life so busy yet so off-target from how I want to spend my time. Matthew’s periodic life evaluations are healthy and motivating. I love optimists! This is a unique audiobook, I love it! I purposely did not read too much about what it was about so I didn't know what to expect. It is very inspirational and can make you giggle at times also.

Loved this book!! Matthew is so engaging in his delivery and a master at the different accents. He is able to place the listener within the storyline he tells. A good insight into his life to date. Totally recommend this one!!

Was curious on this book. I typically do not care to read or listen to books from celebrities. But this intro caught my attention. Listened to the entire book in one day. It is soo good. Inspiring, honest, intriguing, and best of all ... his honesty to himself, family, and integrity. Hearing his life and determination motivates me and even reminded me to stop and reflect my own life happiness. Highly recommend this book. Oh bonus, listening to him read. Was probably the best part. He told it in his version. I love listening to the author read. I feel more meaning from it.

As a young listener, this book added motivation and a line of sight to not always take the easy route but to face challengers and climb that hill. Pick your battles and keep on livin... L.I.V.I.N. Fantastic book

Wow! I loved the book as much as the author. I didn't know if I would enjoy the words as much as the man speaking the words but I was pleasantly surprised. Made me think, made me laugh and made me interested in my own life. what I have done, and haven't done. yet. I've always loved your work Matthew ❤ But now I think I know the man. I always loved Matthew M. This book is full of advice, getting you to realize how you can turn a bad situation (red light) into a good one (green light) I would say it's kind of self help but the McConaughey way, maybe the dazed & confused way. definitely would recommend

Matthew McConaughey is a consummate story teller, he lays out the events and guiding principals of his life in a very entertaining yet thought provoking book. I will recommend this book to everyone, and highly recommend they.get the audiobook version.

Loved this. Matthew is one of my favorite actors and I love his voice! Great narration; great messages throughout.

The intro’s pace and and straightforwardness was good but was not suitable when the first chapter began. It became tiresome after several minutes. I almost turned the book off but continued on. Eventually the tone and pace simmered down. What a relief. The rest of the book was entertaining with exception of moments that seemed like verbal barrages of tmi. I did like Matthew’s voice changes when he spoke in the second person’s character.

No one is going to tell your life story better than you and I think it was perfect to listen to McConaughey tell it! His stories and the wisdom he learned along the way is life-changing.

I didn't want the book to end. Having the author narrate was the best possible idea for this book, especially since it was about his life. I loved it.

wow. one or two crass descriptions and a tiny bit of old school chauvinism to give an otherwise flawlessly inspired self narrative the tiniest of blemishes. spoken word, poetic prose, the marlborough man - matthew's voice could inspire a bull to grow teats.

After listening to MM talk to three of my favourite podcasters for a couple of hours each and being blown away by his depth and intellect, I was sure I'd want to check this out. I love non-fiction and success stories anyway, but I've also always loved McConaughey in films. He's such a good storyteller, and that soothing Texas drawl is like the icing on the cake. So much wisdom, philosophy and inspiration in this book. Words to live by, to learn from and take into your own life, whatever you're trying to achieve. Matt's the real deal.

Interesting look into the stars life and family. He does a wonderful narration of his book on tape. you will find yourself smiling and laughing at the humor in his stories that translates well with his unique style of writing and speaking. Would recommend this book it gives you a positive message with a little more insight about the author. It’s a feel good read. Just keep LIVIN

WTF are you waiting for? Ya'll HAVE to read or listen to this book. So raw, so genuine and such great nuggets of thought provoking questions, statements, quotes and bumper sticker words of wisdom. I laughed out loud to the point of almost peeing my pants, cried a bit and had some deep thinking throughout this entire book. Wherever you are at in this amazing journey of life, this one will help you re-center and truly make you question what is important, what makes us US and what the heck to do once we lock it in. Now I need to go on a road trip and sort some stuff out! Cheers to living our best life NOW!
