Summary
INSTANT #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER!

“The beach-read master hooks us again.'—People

Named a Most Anticipated Book of 2023 by BuzzFeed ∙ Paste Magazine ∙ Elle ∙ Southern Living ∙ SheReads ∙ Culturess ∙ Medium ∙ Her Campus ∙ Readers Digest ∙ Zibby Mag and more!

A couple who broke up months ago pretend to still be together for their annual weeklong vacation with their best friends in this glittering and wise new novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author Emily Henry.

Harriet and Wyn have been the perfect couple since they met in college—they go together like salt and pepper, honey and tea, lobster and rolls. Except, now—for reasons they’re still not discussing—they don’t.

They broke up five months ago. And still haven’t told their best friends.

Which is how they find themselves sharing a bedroom at the Maine cottage that has been their friend group’s yearly getaway for the last decade. Their annual respite from the world, where for one vibrant, blissful week they leave behind their daily lives; have copious amounts of cheese, wine, and seafood; and soak up the salty coastal air with the people who understand them most.

Only this year, Harriet and Wyn are lying through their teeth while trying not to notice how desperately they still want each other. Because the cottage is for sale and this is the last week they’ll all have together in this place. They can’t stand to break their friends’ hearts, and so they’ll play their parts. Harriet will be the driven surgical resident who never starts a fight, and Wyn will be the laid-back charmer who never lets the cracks show. It’s a flawless plan (if you look at it from a great distance and through a pair of sunscreen-smeared sunglasses). After years of being in love, how hard can it be to fake it for one week…in front of those who know you best?

It was disappointing- difficult to get through- usually like this author - too much detail about nothing

Good story line but way too drawn out and repetitive too long

Another fantastic book by Emily Henry. As always, the narration is spot on and you are quickly woven into the lives of the characters. A really nice read.

Super slow read, immature and very unlikeable characters

I liked this story a lot. This author just doesn't disappoint. Of course, it helps to have Julia Whelan narrate your stories, my favorite narrator. Henry changes up her stories enough so as to keep them interesting, and Whelan always knows just the right voice for each and every character.

The narrator’s impersonations of the characters’ voices majorly interfered with my ability to be invested with this book. Just read, don’t act out! Apart from that most of the characters just seemed immature to me and that a lot of the drama in the book could’ve been avoided if they’d just been honest with each other (why not, if they’re the best friends they all claim to be).

Very slow and anticlimactic. Narrator did an excellent job.

Slow to start, but by the last half was good and I wanted to find out how it was going to end. It kept me guessing.

Narrator was amazing, as always! But the plot and the book was awful, and I usually love Emily Henry!

I already had high hopes for this book because of the reviews. Honesty, I wasn’t sold on it until about half way through. Now omg it’s probably my favorite of her books! If you’re like me and we’re iffy in the first-half- KEEP GOING!

I really like Emily Henry's books and I especially like the narrator of her audio books. I liked this story but it felt a little too long- I was ready for it to wrap up with about 2 hours left in the audiobook. So it is not my favorite of hers but still enjoyable.

This was an “okay” book… it wasn’t my favorite but was horrible.

I love Emily Henry, but this wasn't my favorite of her titles. The narrator is terrible. The way she voices the male characters is ridiculous and like nails on a chalkboard.

Sappy wordy predictable. Love Julia her narrations is wonderful. The main character is pathetic and windy

Another great Emily Henry book! It had its usual heart and humor. And you can’t go wrong when Julia Whelan narrates! It’s the perfect summer read! Emily Henry is my “Happy Place!”

I really liked the characters, but thought all the descriptions of the friendships/relationships was a bit heavy handed.

Amazing insight to what we think makes us happy to what is real!

The book could have easily been 3 hours less. There were way too many sexual tension scenes and not enough character development. Nice story overall but way too slow.
