Unabridged Audiobook
Absolutely amazing! I wish my parents had read this back in the 80's and as a parent I had it when raising my own son in the 90's...It is life changing, really!
good lord! some interesting insight into shame in an emotional context is gradually drowned out by a pious onslaught of pseudo-philosophical &pseudo-spiritual insubstantiated hot air. a real shame, as there’s a good book in here if he could’ve separated out his delusional sounding born-again musings from the psychological insight.
Narrator’s alright, he grew on me. Book is phenomenal. Only thing I’m vexed about is this website. It lags a little bit, which isn’t a huge problem. But the fact that there are no chapter timestamps or anything really kills it for me. Would rather not get an audiobook through this website again unless this changes.
Great book! Incredibly helpful concepts to understand and process
Too much physiological talk - a lot of rambling circles that were big lofty words than actually pointing to a solution I felt.
This books has a wide view over shame. I was most impressed by the connections between shame and addictions.
A brilliant book!
Do not take my review as the end-all-be-all I am not into going back into childhood memories. This is a look through the eyes of someone with a historical or traditional view of psychology and therapy. If you have hang-ups around sex and a bad childhood this could the book that will help. I just know it wasn't written for me. I gave it 3 star because I didn't want to hurt the ratings to much I should have done more research into what it was about. Maybe I am just avoiding my issues but don't think so.. :)
