Foul language and blasphemy.

What’s really funny are the reviews whining about the “language”. This book is a raw bleeding love letter. It’s a book. Stop listening if this offends you. Brilliant writing. Great narration.

Very dislike it, super annoying to hear

Didn't really like the book. It just felt like a random rant of a mildly schizophrenic stroke victim. I forget the story the moment I put down the book. However, I loved the narrator and he is the sole reason why I even endured through the book. He brought it to life and it was fun listening to his acting through various dialogues. Had I tried to read the book, I probably wouldn't go past the first chapter.

How was this book a FINALIST for the PULITZER PRIZE?! We’re there only two books published that year? I couldn’t wait for it to be over. To each their own but after reading some of the other reviews it’s nice to know I’m not alone. Geesh

Awful! I am an ICU nurse for four decades and the last thing i want to read is about congealing nose bleeds , vomit, rotting flesh. Filthy language too. Wouldnt recommend it at all.

The use of swearing and curse words overwhelmed any chance to hear what this story was about. If the use of bad language was part of the new narrative. Really! Swearing has been around for centuries, it is not new. I was looking forward to hearing this book. It promised much. It would be interesting to see how many times the f.... word was used. I am sorry and sad to write this review,

I did not find the book to be nearly as heartwarming as described. It was more of a bunch of frantic ramblings patchwork quilted together and read in a breathless excitement that I found irritating. I give credit to the reader. I think that it was actually meant to be read that way, but I didn't like it. I would not recommend this.

Not only is this book wonderfully honest, oddly transparent, entertaining, tragic and funny, but the narration is perfect. I'm starting to just listen to books narrated by Dion Graham. His narration style makes the experience actually better than reading the book myself. The cadence, emotion, accents, are all done incredibly well. A great performance.
