Xaden… that’s all… that’s the review!

I haven’t been into fantasy books since I was a teenager reading Harry Potter and Twilight. A friend suggested I try Fourth Wing, and now I am hooked. I’ve been blowing through this genre, and so far I have to say Fourth Wing set the bar incredibly high. I’m so excited to read Iron Flame.

Compelling background and worldbuilding but I do get hung up on the main character repeatedly working through a debilitating emotional crisis in the middle of combat effectively taking time-out to do so and the supporting characters sometimes also ceasing to function until they are cleared to resume mental processes. Somewhat limited vocabulary with only one adjective in common use. In spite of the above points I enjoyed both books.

I enjoyed this sequel. Fast-paced and fun. Narration was good.

RECECCAAAAAAAAA! This author is an absolute wizard with her storytelling and word play. The layers on layers on layers of plot would make an onion jealous. Read this series ASAP. You won’t regret it.

The ending will have you on the edge of your seat! Storyline is great. Better than expected

Love love loved this book, I finished the first book the same day iron flame came out and wow, Absolutely captivating, amazing store line, Personally loved the length, the amount of detail in character development for each person, land, history, different languages, dragons, etc. wonderful read, highly recommend Astounding Can’t wait for the next one

Really enjoyed the storyline. I was recommended this series and was a little concerned that it would all be smut. However, really enjoyed the character building, storyline and plot. The narrator was fantastic and looking forward to reading more in the series.

everything about this book is so good I used to not write very many reviews unless I book just got me but now I understand that our authors and narrators get their PR by our reviews so I try to leave as many as I can now because they should be recognized even if it's a two Star book! they're trying to make a living and still do what they love and anyone that can do that should be supported ! Now,back to the book.. just listen to it or read it ,it's awesome! I'm on Iron flame now. if I had to change anything it would be the maturity of the female narrator's voice but it still doesn't take away from the book, and she has a pleasant voice, if you like magnificent dragons and action, suspenseful plots , a badass heroin and a few anti-heroes, little spice you're going to love this!

SO good! What an adventure. Love the continuing saga of Violet and Zayden, and the camraderie among Squad-mates.

I love these series and I am thrilled to continue with the rest

Great series recommend

Picked up from nicely from “Fourth Wing” once again kept my attention throughout. The battle scenes had me hooked. Looking forward the the third book in this series.

I enjoyed the central story and the reader is excellent! I felt the author “pushed” the romantic entanglements into a good, stand-alone story; they became trite over time, occuring unnecessarily and in rediculous times/ places.

Just amazing.

This book was amazing! The storylines, the narrators, the world building, the romance, very well done! So upset I have to wait for the next book to come out!

Iron flame picks up immediately after the events of fourth Wing, I loved the clever twists and turns further in this!! there so many theories to think what's going to happen in this series!! audiobook is awesome and I can't wait to read Onyx Storm next year.

Absolutely the most exciting book series I’ve ever read! I haven’t felt this way in a long time. It’s given me chills, made me cry, make me feel like I wasn’t suited to be driving safely listening lol! It will give you all the feels! SO GOOD. I’m literally dying waiting for the third book to release. If this series can just keep going on to a fourth that would be fantastic.

I could not stop listening or put this book down!!

The book was *chef’s kiss* but sometimes in the action scenes, the narrator reads too fast.

The second in the series did not disappoint! I was absolutely enthralled the whole time. I became so engrossed in the lives of the characters and was so exhilarated during each battle. The ending left me standing in utter shock and the absolute NEED to read the next book is UNBEARABLE!

Hooked from the first word on the the first page!

i absolutely loved this series, but this book was the best book! THE ENDING....I did not expect that at all! I am super pissed how it ended, because I wanted so much for violet and xaiden to have resolved and happy endings to their stories, but this ending was just heartbreaking for both of them! neither get the happiness they deserve.maybe the next book will help make that happen!

Loved it. The narration is exciting and draws you into the energy of the storyline. Feel bereft that it needed and I now have to wait for book 3

Phenomenal! I loved the evolution of this book, I ran through this in a couple of days after reading the first one. Outside of the soft porn scenes and thoughts I'm locked in for the next book, I think comes out in January or this fall.

This whole series has quickly become a favorite and I don't usually like fantasy genre...The narration was amazing...

The books are great. I REALLY wish Violet would work through her internal “I suck/im a failure” monologue crisis a little faster and not as often.. it’s a little eye rolling

There are other descriptive words than the F word. Which was used every sentence. It makes you sound uneducated. Definitely could’ve done without the explicit sexual descriptions. Would have been a much better book without those things!

It was pretty good. I would say take a break if you just finished the first one before you jump into this one.

I really like the series so far, but Violet seems all over the place in this book and maybe that's intentional, but it's frustrating to read/listen when it comes off like a prepubescent tweenager throwing a tantrum every other page who has the most inconsistent communication skills. Her clinginess and codependency to Xaden feels counter to the character arc from the first book, she's a lost little puppy now. She reads like a whiny little nymphomaniac who feels entitled to know everyone else's business. Where's the tenacious, gritty, and cunning Violet from the first book? I also understand using the 'f' word for effect but it loses all meaning when everyone sounds like a toddler that just learned a new word and trying for a world record on how many times it can be used in a book all at the same time. Also the constant use of the word "unfathomable" in a world of dragons, magic, and evil wizards is getting stale quickly. Violet giving Xaden a pass on reading her mind and manipulating her while absolutely losing it on her lifelong friend Dane reading a single memory is pretty stupid. Dane's entire arc feels forced and counter to what that relationship would actually be like.Next, the whole land-nav portion of the story feels like a missed opportunity to flesh out the innerworkings of the military and comes off as filler as it had zero bearing on the story for a book already chock full of filler. I'm guessing it'll have call backs in later books, but to me it just felt rushed and not as impactful as it could have.

I do not know how I have done audio books without the graphic audio. I have wanted to get to the next one but I am waiting for the graphic audio instead of the book alone. This is one book I could not put down. Like Violet I want more!!!

loved every moment!

Excellent series which has kept me thoroughly captivated throughout. However, it does get a little sappy at times and the female narration can be a little over the top.

I love this book so much!! It has everything!!! I cannot wait for the third one. And I love the narrator she's amazing. I now look for anything she has narrated!!

Epic series, I've listened to it multiple times, and it's one of the best dragon series I've listened to thus far.

Such a wonderful and exciting continuation of fourth Wing. It’s wonderful to be back in the world, to learn more about the Lord, and to experience the changes, happening within their country and beyond. Very excited to see where this goes in future books! It ends on one hell of a cliffhanger!

Dragon Riders of Pern meet Harry Potter with some Game of Thrones thrown in. More steam than fire. Gratuitous steam at that. Ending left me hanging so I guess the plan is for a third book? Could save several pages by not repeating certain details over and over and over.

In all honesty this is the worst book series ever written. For starters it’s a romance hidden behind the idea being a fantasy series. The author doesn’t know how to move the story forward with any wit or shocking turns. Violet is the most unlikeable main character ever written. She has zero common sense, gets mad about the same annoying and meaningless things and can’t get through a page without her talking about her feelings. This book should NOT be receiving the support it has been getting. This is 50 shades of grey

Not nearly as good as the first but I’m still looking forward to where the story will go in future books

The constant argument between the two lovers gets tiresome. I wish the romance is kept in the background instead of constantly in your face, just get on with the story.

amazing book. Had me in tears for some of the moments, both of laughter and of sadness.

I enjoyed the book particularly for the background that led to the title of the book. I hope the writer makes some changes to her writing style and narration. Scenarios was over described, build up to fights were literally repeated, emotions “exploded” in Violet too many times as power repeatedly hummed. There were too many clues that aided a predictable ending. I am looking forward to the next book.

This is definetly a thrill ride from beginning to end. Can’t wait for next book.. Also check out Blood trials and Blood Gift… Both 10 stars

I really enjoy this series, and OH this narrator is top rate! I listen to audio books ,what seems like, all day driving and I cannot get enough of her narration style.

FANTASTIC continuation of a wonderful, intricate, action-packed, emotional, diversely cast, romantic, empowering story! I'll be re-listening to both books in the series until the next one comes out!

Narrator was a bit "Loud" , but overall it kept me listening, all two books. I hope there is a third at some point !

Narrator does an excellent job, especially when things get action-y. My only complaint with the book are the romance scenes which can be kind of nauseating (but I get that it's a romantasy, so it's to be expected.) Overall, it's a great addition to the series and a wonderful story with twists you don't see coming. Looking forward to book 3!

Iron Flame comes in as book number two of The Empyarean, a planned five book series. The narration is great by both Narrator's, but I think the book suffers from being too long. In my opinion, it would have been better if it had been split into two seperate books.

Absolutely devoured this book. Loved it! I will recommend this series to my girlfriends so we can all be in love with Xaden together.

Fascinating story line, fast paced, Gripping, love the sass and sarcasm of the main characters. Love that the book is a good size, over 20 hours. can’t wait for the next book, great new author I will be watching out for her books.
