Unabridged Audiobook
This was the longest, most drawn out storyline. It was miserable listening. I didn’t care for the plot at all. Darling couple but wow it took forever for Benedict to figure out who she was and even then the ending wasn’t that great. Not the firework show I would’ve expected after all that time he spent searching for his mystery woman. Also, Julia Quinn should spend more time in her books writing about the weddings and the bride. I’d love to hear how the women look on their wedding day.
Benedict’s story is my favorite so far. These bridgerton boys seem like lifelong bachelors until The One enters the picture. The men seem to be terrible romantics when each falls in love. The Lady in Silver captures Benedict, but not quickly. There are so many twists and turns for Benedict to figure out who it is
love love love the bridgerton series. I really enjoyed listening to it while doing house work. I highly recommend audiobooks.com.
This book was a pleasant surprise! The cynic in me scoffed at the Cinderella parallels in the beginning, but then Julia Quinn threw in some interesting twists and I was completely sucked into the story! Figuratively speaking, I couldn’t put it down! I just NEEDED to find out how/when Benedict was going to figure out that Sophie was indeed his “lady in the silver dress.” And although the “evil step-mother” storyline was a bit over the top, I’m sure all of us can relate to having someone make us feel “less than” not to mention that life in general can throw us all for unfair and/or unforeseen curve balls. I really admired Sophie’s resilience, and how her soul remained beautiful despite the harsh cruelties of life. I surprisingly even found myself tearing up at certain points in the book! I also found myself drawn to Benedict’s charm and sweetness, despite being disappointed by his unromantic initial “offer.” Overall, I found this story to be a pleasant surprise - if you can get past some of the Cinderella aspects in the beginning, it starts getting interesting after the ball!
so romantic absolutely love this book & ready 4 next. Omg just can't stop listening.
I loved this book. I really like the author's sense of humor. The narrator is excellent, as always.
Loved this book! I audibly gasped at least 3 times, and I didn’t see that end coming! Unfortunately, I couldn’t stand the narrarator. She made every character sound like a valley girl, even the men. I won’t be listening to anything she narrates again.
I couldn’t stop listening!
Excellent
I absolutely love this series.
Amazing! Absolutely love this book!
Loved it. Can’t wait to read them all.
i enjoyed this book
Thankful a friend introduced me to the Nexflix 2nd season series. Now to "read" about the whole Bridgeton family. The narrator's voice makes me feel like I traveled through time. Highly recommend this selection.
I love this series so far and the 3rd book did not disappoint!
This kept me interested, but I'm hooked on the Bridgerton series anyway.
was awsome
Like it! Love this series
Not up to the usual standard of julia Quinn. Story based on cindrella. Not an original idee
This is the second of the series and totally lives up to the first. Delightful characters very well presented by the narrator and, my favorite, delightful dialog with plenty of humor.
Great read!
This was a terrible book with no satisfying ending to match. The amount of time it takes Sophie to come to her senses is basically the entire book. Benedict is also kind of a creep to her. I really don’t understand why the author used the Cinderella story to get the happy ending romantic point across. This book should have ended after the ball when she realized a better life for herself and a worse life in servitude to her step mother. Not recommended in the series.
I have read all the books of the Bridgerton Series, and love them so much, that I am going back and reading them again! Julia Quinn is one of my favorite authors. I have to say that this book is my least favorite. The first third of the book is copied directly off of Cinderella. I found it hard to forgive Benedict in the next part of the book, where we find out that he is terrible to women whom he thinks are not of his class! He wants her to be a mistress rather than a wife because he is ashamed of her class! Did Violet raise him to be that way? I hope that Shondaland rewrites this in the series so that it is more interesting to watch!
Very enjoyable.
I️ truly enjoyed this book, probably more than the first two of the series! I️ am excited to see how this book series continues.
I wish the story line was a little more original & wasn't fashioned after Cinderella. Also wish male narrators were used for the male characters instead of a female deepening her voices to sound male. Otherwise it was an enjoyable listen.
a little different from the other books in the series but very good
I always love a good historical romance and find the light, humourous writings of Julia Quinn rarely disappoint. The characters are well drawn and have interesting back stories, making her novels less formulaic than one might expect of the genre. The positive focus on family in this series is to be commended.
Good book. I wish Benedict and Sophie had got together a little sooner. But a good book!
