Unabridged Audiobook
Anne Lamott's refreshing view on the every day world and how faith fits into it is hysterical! This read hits some great notes for parents. Overall entertaining and thought provoking with a twist of hope in the messages. I loved it!
Very dissapointing, wasn't expecting a political opinion.
i found listening to anne lamott delightful. i am in the same age group as anne and resonated with many of her experiences and insights. she finds the spiritual truths in the lessons of everyday life, tempering the pain and confusions with some of the best humor.
I am not Christian and am usually put off by constant, endless references to Jesus. Anne Lamott's discussions about Jesus, however, were more about Jesus the man - his lessons, his life (and death) by example, and his expectations which anyone can respect and identify with. After all, the Bible was intended as a moral and ethical guide. She refers to God as She and that was refreshing indeed! I adored her commentary about the challenges of raising a teenager! I only gave 4 stars because I try to keep a positive attitude and found Anne's style to be just a tad morose for my liking. Excellent listen and well worth my time!
I didn't think I would like this book when it began, but it wasn't long before I was laughing and applauding. It was so well written in that it addressed life's everyday moments with humor and honesty. Love it.
I thoroughly enjoyed "Plan B" and dreaded the moment when I'd no longer have Anne along for the ride to work. She writes about serious subjects with a seriously funny perspective that I can't imagine could ever be quite as funny if read by someone else. I bought the book right away so that I could go back and reference some of her ironic, inspiring statements and plan to buy a few extras for friends and family (excepting my pro-Bush relatives in "red" states).
Plan B - don't we all need one? Anne Lamott presents her ideas on moving forward in faith. I laughed heartily and often as Anne read her book to me. It feels very personal.... like an old friend is sharing her ideas on faith and hope and life. If you're feeling a little low due to family problems, personal crisis or just because George Bush is still president take a listen to this wonderful book.
