Unabridged Audiobook
I laughed and cried with this book. It was a great story and well narrated. I would highly recommend this book!!!
Great story with plenty of layers...like peeling back an onion. Narrator made the book come alive.
I enjoyed this book. Laughed out loud and cried. Recommend this heartwarming story.
I liked this story. I found it fairly predictable. The big secret was good. But much of it reminded me of a romance novel which is not my favorite genre. It is a nice story. And if you are a fan of romance novels, it would be a good book for you. It has one of those neatly tied up endings. I was really ready for it to end long before it did.
Loved this book! Great characters and wonderful story line. Plus takes place in Beaufort,SC so an added bonus.
I kept thinking I had figured it all out, and then there would be another layer to unfold. Well written.
Great book from the very beginning. Heart and soul and good twists.
This was a good twisting story that is all explained by the end.
loved this book and the narration was my favorite.
It was a lovely story narrated with care. Previous readers had commented that it had humor I found none but the storyline as it unfolded made this lack undisappointing. The end was predictable but I was happy it did
Loved it
My favorite book so far! The narrator was awesome. This book had lots of layers. Loved it!!
This book surprised me, I thought it was going to be a typical light summer romance with a little bit of a mystery thrown in. Oh boy was I ever wrong, but in the absolute, can't stop listening, ignoring everything around me, except things that I can do while listening to this book, kind of surprise. The twists and turns the author takes you on are done so masterfully you feel like you have just ridden the best roller coaster ever and you want to ride it all over again when it is done. The surprises keep coming all the way to the end, just when you think you have it all figured out, here comes another twist. There are multiple plot lines in this book, so be prepared for that, I thought that might ruin it. Karen White handles it with skills I haven't seen since James Patterson. It all works, it isn't jumbled or disconnected, every plot is joinedin one way or another and as it comes around when you think they have finally figured it out, or you have figured out, Ms. White goes and changes all again. The author and narrator effortlessly change between characters, keeping the storytelling interesting. Ms. Plummer does an excellent job with one character in particular, that in my head I saw Jamie Pressly as Jill Kendall from the TV Show "Mom," every time she goes into this character, that is all I see, and by the way, that is an absolute compliment. They both seem to be effortless at painting a picture of when and where they are taking you, one with her pen, the other with her voice. If you made it this far, you'll love the book. I find it so hard to make short reviews without giving anything away!
This book holds your interest from beginning to end. Highly recommended.
I enjoyed listening to this book. It kept my interest. Loved the descriptions of Beaufort
An old mansion in the low country, mystery abounds. Rich characters develop new relationships. Loved it!
Wonderful book, I cried
Loved this book!
I loved so much about this book. It is very well written and the narrator is exceptional.
Interesting
I loved the book and the characters! Very nice listen!
Such a beautifully written story! I did not want it to end!
Life doesn’t get easier we just get stronger. A quote from this book. If you like the movie Beaches you will love this book. I feel in love with the characters in this book. I have to see if the author writes all her books like they are friends. Things in life happen for a reason. Another quote from the book.
Great book with many layers. I don’t see this as a romance book. It definitely shows consequences for actions and choices. The mystery unwinds a bit slowly. But it’s an intriguing one. Shedding light on what the book does is truly important. Loved the narrator.
I could handle listening to a book like this once in a great while because the old fashioned southern way of speaking and southern belle attitude of one of the main characters (I’m a “northern girl “). That being said it seemed to be very authentic and correct for that character and somewhat charming and definitely added to the story. Overall the plot/mystery was very interesting and well told. Some of the aspects of the relationships was predictable but not off putting. I highly recommend this book and especially recommend it as an audiobook- the narrator did an excellent job and much would be lost just reading the book.
Complex plot that kept me on my toes
Lots of layers in this story, with characters you come to really care about as their lives are revealed. The thing I appreciated the most was how Susan (Lauralee) (sp?) and Thérèse (Merritt) each had not only their own character’s chapters, but also had to speak as each other’s characters. They did it seamlessly. I imagine they worked together to make the other’s character sound as much like the original narrator as they could. Wonderful storytelling brought to life by these two. Special shout-out to Thérèse for her amazing work in the last few chapters (without giving anything away). Wonderfully done!
I haven't laughed and cried this much over a story in a long time. Extremely well written and narrated. I could not put it down. what a great story teller Karen White is. I will have to see what else she has written!
I enjoyed this book, all the wisdom/sayings were perfect!
Great story line, and the narration is well done. I wish the book was even longer, a story to go on.
great story... the way she brought the history to shape the future of the main character... and the narrator made it even better
Great plot and character development. Suspenseful. Kept my attention and I was entertained
I liked it and looked at her for my next read .. wish the end had more of the conversation about the crash and how the characters resolved the trust issues if any it felt rushed
Good plot twists, good characters, and good narration.
I really liked the story line. You grow to love the characters too. So many twist and turns that you don’t see coming. I highly recommend.
Enjoyed the book and the narrator.
The narration amazing. The story intertwining pasts, pain, strength, love, fear and unknown personal power into a tearful celebration with a genuine reminder that abuse is never okay. And, I’m going to make Seaglass Chimes!
Outstanding story and narrations of each character. !
This is a very good story
Good summer read/listen. Three- five different plot lines maintain your attention. Listen carefully!
I really loved the characters. Each had their own story and secrets that connected each other. I loved Loralee’s journal and words of wisdom. I want it for myself.
Loved this book!! Narration was excellent. So important to be able to listen and enjoy a narrator. One of the best yet.
Love the uniqueness Well told story.
This was such an amazing book! It takes time to build the characters and story in a way that keeps you wondering what the outcome will be. It has all the emotions and some great southern charm and humor. Love this narrator! She is one of my favorites to listen to.
I looked forward to my long walks while listening to this book. Not only does it take place in the town where I live but the narrator brought to life all the characters. I actually did shed a tear at the end all because of the voice of the narrator. It was an absolutely wonderful read and I highly recommend it!
Very enjoyable
It took me a lil to get into, but I was soon hooked. I laughed and cried like a baby. This is definitely worth the listen... im also interested in more from this author now!
So. Much. Fun!
It was okay, Kind of what I'd compare to a "beach read". The audio book was okay but I almost think this may have been a good one to read on the beach. Totally inoffensive book
I so loved this book. Narrations we’re so easy and enjoyable to listen to. Story was wonderful. I’ll listen to this one again.
This book surprised me. It does a remarkable job in shedding light on some difficult issues. Sound profound insight into lifes lessons. The narrator's depths bring an additional benefit for understanding the characters in this story. Highly recommend.
The narrator's attempts at different voices and accents was grating. Then again, she was dealing with a story that was weird to say the least.
Laugh, cry. Beautiful story with twists. Well written
I really enjoyed the book, although romance novels are not my usual choice in books. Excellent narrator!
It was a little slow-going for me at first but really picked up in short order. Great, like-able characters in a touching, gentle, often humorous story. I ended up loving this book and enjoyed the touching, satisfying ending, This book doesn’t disappoint! It;’s worth a listen!
Beautiful book!!! Moments in it left me in shambles unable to focus on what i was working on, and the narrator’s by far the best I’ve heard so far!!
Enjoyed thoroughly
Very emotional book. Great narrator.
Enjoyed this book very much. Narrator was also pleasant to listen to. Highly recommend.
I really enjoyed the book and loved the character of Loralee. A great free read.
Enjoyable and not too predictable thru out until 3/4 of the way thru.
I absolutely LOVED this book! So many different facets and the narrator does a fantastic job!! I didn’t want it to be over!
A bit drawn out
Loved the story even though a bit predictable. Didn’t like the narrator of the main character or the brother in law too much. Narrator for Lorelei was great until the end. Instead of making her sound sick, she sounded 90 years old. Tough thing to do probably so I’ll give her a break!
Well written. Caught my interest immediately. Character development was great. Narrator was outstanding. Just sorry the author didn't bring much faith into the story. That would have made it a 5 star for me.
WOW! So true to life emotions, reactions, deep soul searching...
A good listen but predictable. Narration great.
Great twist
Loved this book! The twists and turns kept me engaged and thinking all the way to the very end. Complex characters and amazing narration made me feel part of the story which is the whole point of reading/listening for me - the escape. New Karen White fan!
the book is a good listen it had a little mystery , a little love and family ties
Such a great storyline! Loved it.
Loved this story. Didn’t want it to end!!
Well written. Love all her books! Great details. Love stories in the Southern states! Excellent narrators.
This is one of the best books and narration I have experienced in a long time. Loved it.!!
Loved it. Author brought the scenery and characters to life. Excellent narration
The narrator made the story come alive. The ending came to soon. I hope there’s a part 2. I’ll look for more books with this narrator.
I really enjoyed the book. The events of how Merit and Cal met in the book were so unexpected. Some of the story line was predictable though once Merit moved to Beaufort SC and met Gibbs as well as her interaction with her step mom.
Love the book I definitely recommend I really didn't want to stop ....
