Summary
Joan of Arc is a folk heroine of France and a Roman Catholic saint. Claiming divine guidance, she led the French army to several important victories during the Hundred Years' War, which paved the way for the coronation of Charles VII of France. Captured by her enemies, she was sold to the English and put on trial for charges of "insubordination and heterodoxy".

She was burned at the stake for heresy when she was 19 years old. Twenty-five years after her execution, an inquisitorial court examined the trial, pronounced her innocent, and declared her a martyr. Joan of Arc was beatified in 1909 and canonized in 1920. She is one of the patron saints of France. Most of what is known today of her story comes from the detailed court records of her trials. I enjoy this app immensely. I listen as I take my daily walk. This particular book was so interesting in that Joan of Arc followed her God even in the face of war and death. Such bravery and dedication!

I liked learning more about this important female historical figure. The book covers her entire life and lets us get a better understanding of the motives behind her actions. It was not just the voices of the Saints that were guiding her but it was mostly her intelligence and her reasoning.

It was really interesting to learn more about Joan of Arc. This telling of her story was done in a very classic-sounding way, both the writing and the narrating. Sometimes it was confusing to listen too, and it left me wanting to fill in a lot more information ~ but this was a good introduction to this incredible young woman / warriorress / Saint.

Good narration, albeit with very Anglicized pronunciation of the French words. Good story.

I'm going to finish Narrator has a monotone voice a little too drab for me needs more fluctuations but will return to finish the story of Joan because I want to know about her

This was my first book from audio books and I am so glad that I found this app. The app is easy to use and this book was narrated nicely. It was basically a short story but long enough for my drive and I enjoyed it thoroughly. I learned information that I had never heard before. Listening to this book was a nice way to try out audio books app. Thank you for allowing us to listen to it for free.

Wow what a life story, Joan was really spiritual, her revelations, actions and wisdom showed and confirmed who spoke to her. Her life showed a lot of things, starting from who was right and wrong , spiritual and not spiritual religiously speaking. Her life also rebuked those that claimed to be more spiritual yet didn't know what they were talking about.

This book is free so comments are made with that in mind. The reader is an automaton who puts no emotion at all in the reading. There is no attempt to pronounce the French correctly which really grates. The story is very much a telling from the Scottish/ French side so all things French or Scottish are good, pure and honourable and all things English are evil and dishonourable. Notwithstanding that ‘English’ nobles at this time were mostly still Norman/ French and thus their claims on parts of France.

At first I wasn’t sure I was going to finish the book but glad I did. I lived in Paris many years ago and found it interesting to hear the historical context and importance of many places I invited in France through this book.

I enjoyed the story and was interested in reading more about Joan because I just visited Rouen where she was burned at the stake and kept in the tower I like the length of the book. I did not enjoy the narrators voice as much as some other narrators I have listened too..
