Unabridged Audiobook
I liked this book. The start reminded me of a great southern tale such as the movie "Steele Magnolias". It did have a lot of detail, but I like that in a book so I can truely visualize the story. It was a little slower then I particularly like, but I stuck with and am glad that I did. It had a twist to it that I did not expect. Also, the reader was excellent!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I love books about the low country and this author spun a good story with such amazing detail you could actually believe you were there.
This was my 1st book to listen to and within 5 min. SHUT IT OFF wondering if I really heard what was said. Its one thing to have such detail in the middle so you can skip over it, but to start out with such description (even describing body parts) of raping a little girl..it was awful. I read every review including the authors and there was NO warning what I was about to hear. I guess that is what astounded me even more; yes I am a Christian but there are good books out there without being subjected to that. The Christian authors today are wonderful and have some excellent suspense, murder, thrillers, and I hope to see more available here at SB. They do have Frank Peretti and he is awesome no matter which book you choose you will love it. SO I just wanted to WARN anyone choosing this author to BEWARE. I am hoping to find a way for good writers not christian that i would not find offensive. 2nd rev submit didn't count first.

This is the first book I have read/listened to by this author and I have put two others on my shelf. It was a really good book wonderfully read by Anna Fields. The only thing wrong with it is that it ended too soon. As a "dog person" I was surprised and pleased to find that it centered around a Boykin Spaniel breeding facility, but you don't have to be a dog lover to enjoy this well written book. I highly recommend it.
I loved listening to this book. It had an interesting story, was filled with good characters to whom one could relate and easily visualize, and a lot of informative history and facts about the Charleston area and raising dogs (this coming from a cat lover). All in all, it was a heartfelt coming-of-age story and would make a good movie.
THIS BOOK WAS TRULY FUN TO LISTEN TO. IT WILL KEEP YOUR INTEREST FROM BEGINNING TO END. I LISTEN TO IT IN THE CAR AND DROVE EXTRA MILES TO FINISH CHAPTERS. SWEETWATER CREEK CAPTURES YOUR IMAGINATION AND MAKES YOU SAD TO GET TO THE END. LISTEN AND ENJOY.
I loved this book and the reader. She transports you to the south and takes you into the the inner workings of a young girl who grows up.
Anne River Siddons certainly knows how to tell a tale. This story was interesting and sweet as well as disturbing at some points. Initially I did not like the reader, but after the first few chapters, I found that she gave life to each character. A little long, but well worth the listen.
There is little doubt that this book falls under the classification of "Chick Lit." The author aptly explores multiple, complex relationships on several levels. Like always, Siddons brings the Carolina low country alive in her trademark style. She has a supurb sense of place. However, the real coup of this rendition is the reader, Anna Fields. Always superior, she outdoes herself in this presentation by adding a rich texture that enhances the textual interpretation.
