Unabridged Audiobook
I just loved this audio book. Have read the book a couple of times, and the narration was spot on. Matt Addis is great at all the different character’s voices - I particularly liked John Keighley (surely Matt must be from Yorkshire!) and little Edmund was a joy - a younger version of Martin Jarvis’s Just William! He managed all the ladies’ voices too - never easy - and was able to convey all the wit and charm of the book with ease. Sylvester could be a difficult character to represent fairly - aware of his own importance but also an essentially good man, but this came over well, as did his increasingly fond feelings for the determined Phoebe! Just lovely - I shall listen again.
What a great story! I loved Matt Addis reading this novel because he did such a fabulous job acting all the parts. IMHO the best narrators are the ones who give a different voice to each character so that you always know who's speaking. That's what Matt Addis achieves to such great effect! I enjoyed listening to this version of Sylvester so much and it's amazing to finally hear the full book on audio (love Richard Armitage but no one should ever abridge Sylvester!). This is a wonderful comedy full of wit and humour with an amazing plot that picks you up and carries you away. Looking forward to listening to more books by Matt Addis!
