Unabridged Audiobook
Literally the most mind-blowing, Earth-shattering, groundbreaking and healing piece of literature that my therapist could have recommended when I asked for a book for my mom and I to read together. Terry has enabled me to realize that not only I have an inner adaptive child, but my mom does too. I truly think this will help us mend our relationship, as I now realize that not only did she raise me the way her parents raised her, but that her parents inflicted emotional trauma on her, too. We experienced similar emotional abuse, and I hope this helps us achieve accountability and forgiveness.
This book was helpful in thinking about my relationships and how to better them.
I would give it a lower rating if I plausibly could -47/ 5. The author makes absolutely zero efforts to rationalize any of the things that he asserts to be universally accepted truths. my best example is that he equates all sense of individuality to patriarchy and over the exhausting exhausting exhausting exhausting exhausting time I spent listening to this book, never attended to rationalize that point once.
