Unabridged Audiobook
I really wanted to like this book. Sadly, I wasn’t able to get past the biased lens of the author. Majority of the stories are about White Women of Anglo-saxon, European and Jewish backgrounds. At times pedantic, I was frustrated to see stories like the women who wrote “The Rules” to be featured over WOC and women from other religious groups. The stories cover from the 1800’s to 2017, so the window of opportunity to feature a bounty of diversity was there. Also to note, many, not all, of the white women featured came from status or $ which is not inspiring to me. This book illustrates the lack of diversity, intentional or otherwise, that certain feminist circles perpetuate. Marlene Wagman-Geller, I hope the lack of diversity was an oversight and in the future you will feature Middle Eastern, Asian, Black, Latin, Muslim, Hindu, and anything in between.
